Thanks for explaining Sasha. I think the confusion arose from the fact that "I’m open to M/F, M/M, or multiples thereof" *does* sound a lot like F/F is actively excluded. Which I personally thought was strange, as I know Samhain has a Gay/Lesbian genre section, so is not averse to F/F. However, on closer inspection, that section doesn't currently include a single lesbian novel...
As someone mentioned above, maybe writers don't send in F/F because, as you yourself said, you deliberately don't indicate that F/F is also accepted in calls for submissions? Just a thought.

The more times you put out a call for submissions that specifically excludes F/F, the more times you'll be publishing an anthology that doesn't include F/F stories.

The more people that see no F/F stories in these anthologies, the more people will take you at your word that you're looking for "M/F, M/M, or multiples", and won't submit F/F stories.

So, you either don't want them and are making excuses, or you need to rethink how you present your story desires.

I'm happy to look at F/F for this anthology or in regular submissions. Samhain is and always has been open to F/F submissions. That said, we so rarely receive any that I don't specify them in my anthology calls. I've received only two F/F submissions in the just-under-four-years I've worked for Samhain, as opposed to the hundreds and hundreds of M/M submissions, and just as many if not more M/F submissions I've received in the same timeframe.

As this is an anthology, it means three novellas of similar theme and sexual pairings, which will be paired together in one paperback. I haven't received three F/F submissions in my entire time at Samhain, so it would surprise me to receive enough quality submissions to put together an anthology of F/F Steampunk stories.

Feel free to surprise me. I won't mind.
