SFR News & Links Extra

Seems like the news ain't over yet for science fiction romance this month (not that I'm complaining or anything!). A few additions:

First up, Ella Drake. According to her site, the author contracted DESERT BLADE (Spring 2012), a post-apocalyptic romance novella, with Carina Press. Way to go!

The finalists of the 2012 EPIC Awards have been announced (via Pauline Baird Jones and ARe Cafe).

In the Novella category, author Ella Drake made the cut with her biopunk tale JAQ'S HARP.

Here are the finalists in the Science Fiction Romance category (wow, didn't think I'd be typing those words anytime soon, squee!):

 OUTCAST MINE - Jamie Craig
SILVER BOUND - Ella Drake
STEAM AND SORCERY - Cindy Spencer Pape
TO KISS OR TO KILL - Jean Lorrah

Congratulations to all of the finalists!

In book news, Carina Press is re-releasing the sci-fi romances of C.J. Barry with all new covers:

UNEARTHED
UNLEASHED
UNMASKED
UNRAVELED

In "We Do It For The Love" at the Carina Press blog, C.J. Barry briefly chronicles her path to science fiction romance:

Over the next few years, I learned that writing was the hardest job I’ve ever done, my genre was called SFR, the market is quite small, and the readers are fiercely loyal. I also learned that love is love, no matter what planet you set it on or where your characters are from or what kind of craft they drive/fly.
That's right: in the world of science fiction romance, our motto is never give up, never surrender!

And last but not least, debut author Sharon Lynn Fisher informed me that the release date for her sci-fi romance GHOST PLANET (Tor) is November 1, 2012. Woo-hoo!

Joyfully yours,

Heather
